Hello,
Has anyone else out there picked up the new TG album? I just bought a copy at the Amoeba in Hollywood, popped it into the CD player though I only got through a few tracks before I stopped the car, so I haven't listened to the whole thing yet . . .

Re: Brand New TG album
Wed, April 18, 2007 - 1:08 AMI agree that the new TG album took WAY too long....as it should have been released almost 2 yrs ago!!! But Now that I have bought & received "The Endless WAIT~ Part 2" in the post about 2 weeks ago....I can only say that it was WELL worth the wait!!!
It is a Stellar album & I LOVE it because I am TOTALLY into Chris, Cosey & Sleazy's input into TG( as well their solo groups...i.e. COIL, Carter Tutti/CTI, etc.)...however I am not to fond of Gen and his "talent"....
SO, what I LOVE about the album is while their are a few great instrumental tracks, one being Greasy Spoon(that's over 9 min long) in particular is a favorite of mine.
I can't complain too much, because aside from a few tracks like Rabbit Snare, Almost A Kiss, The Worm Waits its turn where Gen's vocals are very prominant...
there are also some GREAT tracks like Vow of Silence, Liar Lyre, etc(that are each around 7-8 min. in length) where Gen's vocals are minimal and distorted, so they don't grate on you and annoy you as much(if your one of those TG fans like me, whose not to fond of G-PO)....
Overall, while it doesn't compare to classics like 20 Jazz Funk Greats, 2nd Annual Report, and many great live albums....it does come close though!
And that's saying a LOT, since this is the 1st studio album(aside from the TGNOW EP released in 2004) by TG in over 25 yrs!
So, basically, IMO, it is a KILLER album!!!
I LOVE IT! I have been listening to it at least 1-2x a day for the last 2 weeks...
PLUS....if my fiance.... (who does NOT like noisey musick such as TG, Cabaret Voltaire, Coil, etc.) had to tell me to ...."Please shut that off! It is so annoying... It sounds like music to torture people to!!!"...then I guess TG has still got it (LOL : ) ...and has managed to accomplish what they have always set out to do! Hehehehe
I would give the album 4 out of 5 stars, or 8/10
So go buy it and judge for yourself....$15.00 is not bad for 67+ minutes of good ol' TG & a totemic gift in the spine of the jewel case...mine was the bone and looks pretty cool! -

Re: Brand New TG album
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 5:04 PMI agree about Gens voice, though I do really like his voice prior to hir transformation to Breyer. Ya know I kinda like early TG much more, being that they did not have the technology they do now. This made their sound more creative in that they had to invent stuff more so. In the pictures of TG now they don't look at all comfortable with each other, but hey. I did expect more, will give it a few more goes.
Cheers -

Re: Brand New TG album
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 5:31 PMI have to agree with you Mark. ( Although I never liked Gen's voice. )
There was something creative and dangerous about the early TG
material. I don't feel that way about this cd. There are some moments
that reminded me of past TG material as well as some stuff from the
C+C's EAR series. But I have to say I expected more from this one as well.
